Our Mission

… is to train local men to preach the gospel to their own people as summed up by Paul in II Timothy 2:2,

“The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”

The sole purpose of Southern Africa Bible College is to bring Christ to Africa by means of highly trained graduates who are dedicated, well-versed and sound in the scriptures.

Meet the Director

Southern Africa Bible College was founded in 1966 by long-time, American missionary, Eldred Echols, and South African convert Al Horne. It was founded on the 2 Timothy 2:2 where Paul tells Timothy, “The things which you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to reliable men who can teach others also.” Since that time the College has had over 1,500 attendees from 30 countries who are preaching, teaching, evangelizing, and leading in over 50 countries around the world.

We have a problem in South Africa…People are receptive to the Gospel. Why is that a problem? Because if we don’t have qualified local Christians to preach, teach, evangelize, and lead, we leave ‘fruit’ to ripen on the vine. Or, stated more plainly, we miss many opportunities to bring people to Christ.

Southern Africa Bible College equips local Christians to serve in the Kingdom. By equipping people who already know the languages, customs, and area, we greatly increase the effectiveness of each person sent out. Furthermore, our staff and faculty are all local church leaders who have planted and grown congregations in Southern Africa as well. This work is not just American Christians sending our money and people to ‘take care’ of the locals. This is a partnership with local Christians who know what is needed to reach the population. They sacrifice greatly to see that it is accomplished. In fact, South African churches and individuals provide 20% of our budget, a number that has more than tripled in the last 10 years.

Thank you for your partnership in reaching Southern Africa with the Gospel. May God bless you in your service.

Sincerely,

Kirk Eason Director of Development
